I started taking photos with a camera my Grandmother gave me when I was fifteen. It was a pitiful little camera that my Grandfather had gotten for free with a luggage order. Despite its weaknesses, it got me hooked. Later, I moved up to a Pentax, then a Nikon, then the treasured Hasselblad. Now, customers demand digital, so I went back to the trusted Nikon. Recently, I fell for Canon. My Canon 5D Mark II offers a beautiful creamy look to my images.
My first professional photo job was with the Mount Airy News. I took photos for the front page. Soon after, I moved to the Outer Banks where I worked for the Outer Banks Photo Center. There I started doing studio work, locations, sports teams, and weddings. After four years on the Outer Banks, I returned to Mount Airy. I went to work for Pam at Tilley's Photography Studio. It was a valuable experience that finally led me into my own studio. I have been in business for 8 years. The last 5 years, located on Main St. in Mount Airy.
I spent several years traveling to the Outer Banks to photograph 8-10 weddings a year. A couple of years ago I decided to stop doing weddings on the coast. The traveling was a bit too much with three active children. I chose to shoot solely in Mount Airy and the surrounding area. I now shoot about 20 weddings a year. I also love photographing families, children and events. I am a huge fan of environmental photography and love to be outdoors. I also enjoy working with families in their homes to capture those special moments.
Photography is my passion, whenever and wherever. It would be a pleasure meeting you and helping you to record your precious memories.
Of course, my favorite photo subjects in the world!
